On the J1 Summer Work and Travel program you can go to the USA during university holiday for up to four months. Requirements include being between the age of 18 and 30, Sufficiently proficient in English to successfully interact in an English speaking environment; Post-secondary school students enrolled in and actively pursuing a degree or other full-time course of study at an accredited classroom based, post-secondary educational institution outside the United States; Have successfully completed at least one semester or equivalent of post-secondary academic study; and Pre-placed in a job prior to entry unless from a visa waiver country. J1 Work and Travel dates are designated by the Department of State in consideration of respective international treaties and differ from country to country. J1 Work and Travel jobs must be seasonal and you have the opportunity to choose whether you work in a large bustling city or explore the splendour of natural beauty in one of the great National Parks or the beautiful countryside in the USA. Either way you can expect to be in a diverse work environment and have every day be an adventure.
On the J1 6-12 month internship/trainee program you may learn and train more intensively in your given profession or career while experiencing American culture. The qualifications for this program are:a degree in hospitality or tourism or culinary arts from an accredited university or college within the last twelve months. OR a degree in hospitality and one year of work in hospitality or tourism in your home country OR five years of work experience in hospitality, tourism or culinary arts in your home country.
